Nathan Jenkins (Bullion) puzzles together the fourth instalment in the label’s ongoing series of cover albums, entitled 4 Down and released via his Deek Recordings label. Having previously featured Nilüfer Yanya, Laura Groves and many more, this years’ compilation launches with Westerman covering Kathy’s Song by Simon and Garfunkel. Staying true to the “pop, not slop!” ethos of the label, 4 Down sees a community of new and underground artists attempting to solve the riddles of modern pop one song at a time. Born out of the community that surrounds Deek and Bullion’s work as a producer, the idea for the covers compilation was sparked by friendly collaborations with no pressure to write the material.
